4 weeks old

Today Blake is 4 weeks old! The time is already going by so fast! It is time for another update on him, as well as some more pictures. :-)

Monday was his follow-up heart echo. We had one during my pregnancy and everything looked fine, but the doctor said we would do one once he was born and I was very happy with that. Blake passed his heart checkup with flying colors!!! It was very emotional for me to go in and have them tell me "everything looks perfect!" Such a relief! I am just now realizing how much having had a baby with a birth defect changes you - you lose sense of what is normal and worry about EVERYTHING. So I had tears of joy when I heard that everything is okay. Also on Monday, I took Blake in to his pediatrician because I was concerned at how fussy he had been over the weekend. It turns out that he already has his first ear infection in his right ear. :-( I was really disappointed to hear that, but relieved to know that I made the right decision about taking him in. I think he is still struggling with the pain, but I hope it gets better soon.

Here are some snapshots I took last week.

2 weeks old!

Hello readers! Long time, no post! There is a tiny little being that is absorbing all of my time, as well as stealing my heart! Blake is doing wonderfully! We were discharged from the hospital with a "bili blanket" order to keep his jaundice at bay, but we were told we could stop the light therapy the very next day after his blood was redrawn! Blake was at risk (due to the antibody in my blood) for being both anemic and more jaundice than a normal newborn. His blood counts after birth were great and the jaundice that he did experience we believe to be no more than what would occur normally. So as it turns out, we had a long, worrisome pregnancy with a perfect result! God has blessed us so much and your prayers have seen us through!

I have posted a link to his birth picture on the upper right side of this page, so if you would like you can visit and view a few different pictures that were taken of him at the hospital, as well as post a message. I would like to clarify that he was actually 20.5 inches long instead of the 20.25 inches I was told originally. Here is a picture, as well, taken yesterday at 2 weeks. My, how he has changed already! (I've also updated Evan and Blake's pictures on the sidebar).
