Future High-Diver??

Clayton loves to jump off of the high dive at our local fitness club's pool! I try not to watch and Andy takes all kinds of video and pictures, lol.

Our little fish again. This cracks us up!

Pirates Tball 2010

(July 8, 2010)

Well, we celebrated the end of our fantastic tball season with a team party at a local sports-themed family restaurant. The dad of one of my players is the manager there and offered to buy the kids each a meal and put our team uniform shirt, along with a team picture signed by each player and coach, on the wall. I thought that was so neat!

This had to be one of my favorite parts of the season. Not because it meant it was over, but because I decided to come up with awards for each child to recognize where he stood out the most throughout the season. I thought long and hard about each child and reflected on many of the laughs, challenges, and proud moments of the past few months. I spent lots of time creating my own award certificate, each personalized with a graphic to fit the achievement. I had 13 players and gave each player their own unique award, with the exception of two kids who both received the same award because it just fit. My awards were: Best Attitude (x2), Best Arm, Best Base Running, Speed Demon, Most Heart, Most Eager to Learn, Most Improved, Best Batting, Most Confidence, Best Team Player, Best All-Around, and Golden Glove. Even though I was a little nervous and a bit tearful at times, I enjoyed having the opportunity to get up in front of all the players and parents to let them know how special I think each child is and how much I enjoyed being their coach this season.

We were proud to finish 3rd in the league out of 8 teams! I will NEVER forget this experience...

Here is a slideshow of pictures from the evening of our party. Grant received the "Best Attitude" award because he always had a smile on his face and NEVER complained about anything (not even about having to wear that hot, heavy catcher's equipment for the entire season). Clayton received the "Most Confidence" award for believing in himself and showing up to play like he knew he could every game both on the field at first base and in the batters box. I'm so proud of my boys!

They got up one morning to watch TV and made this comfy arrangement with their mini pull-out couch and an armrest pillow.

White Mills Days 2010

(July 3, 2010)

White Mills Days was another hot one this year but involved lots of fun. Andy and 3 of the boys were in the parade again, with it being Clayton's first time as a bike rider! Grant and I spectated while bagging up lots of candy. Unfortunately, I was unable to do the 5K this year due to twisting my knee (which soon after prompted a look into an old injury on the opposite knee, thus discovering I have - and probably have had for 12 years - a torn meniscus, where surgery was recommended...boooo!). Blake was in his first (and probably last, lol) baby contest, placing 2nd out of five 19-24 month olds. I was feeling that mom-guilt that the others had been in baby contests and he hadn't so I was able to check that off my list, LOL!! We played lots of games where the boys took home tons of junk.. er, I mean, loot and then swam in the gorgeous new beach-entry pool at the camp. It was a great day!

Clayton on his bike, cool shades and all!

2nd place! :-)

Toy Story 3

(June 18, 2010)

We had been waiting for this for months... We saw the preview for TS3 at least 9 months prior to opening day and from that moment I promised the boys we would go and see this in the theater. I had my heart set on opening day, June 18th, and luckily I was able to pull it off! I bought them shirts to wear well in advance in anticipation of the big day. The Toy Story movies are up there at the top of my list of favorite animated movies. I think I was more excited than they were, lol! Little Blake had to sit this one out at Grandma's so me and the "big kids" could enjoy the movie even more. But he was more than eager to sit in on the photo shoot prior to leaving. We had a great day and enjoyed the movie so much. I cried so hard!! Now we can't wait for it to come out on DVD so we can watch it again and again (and so mommy can cry again and again...). :-)

Potty Training

(June 7, 2010)

So, I was going to at least wait until the end of June when Blake was 22 mos (more on why in a min) to start potty training, but I couldn't wait any longer and decided to start the Monday after we returned from vacation. I have an ebook on potty training in 3 days and it says to wait until the child is at least 22 months old. I had used it when Evan was potty training at around 29 months and found it to be rather successful, even though I would not consider him to have been completely trained by the end of the 3 days (but it wasn't long before he was). Blake had been showing signs of readiness (or signs of annoyance, whichever you want to call it...) by taking his diaper off EVERY time he relieved himself in it for weeks and I finally decided it's TIME. Here we are 2.5 months later and he is doing fairly well, although still not completely trained. Mind you I did not follow the instructions to a 'T' as I did with Evan as it is an extremely intense period of time and I did not have the same desire this time to put forth the same effort. LOL The end result is that he is totally satisfied with how it's going and we are saving money on diapers. And ultimately, isn't that what it's all about... saving money while not traumatizing your child in the process?? Hahaha!

I just HAD to take some pictures of his uber cute little bottom in his big-boy underwear. Oh yeah, these will be coming out when he is dating that special someone some day... [Evil laugh]

Summer 2010

Geez! Another month has slipped by without me getting around to all the updating I've been meaning to do! Well, I will start out by saying we had a FABULOUS summer! Yes, HAD... it is already over and the kids are already back to school! :-( As I have told several friends, this is the first summer in a LONG time that I haven't been either pregnant, nursing, dealing with a child uder the age of 1, or all three! It was a much welcomed realization of freedom and I tried to take advantage of it as much as possible while still trying to savor every second of the early years of my kids lives.

The following several posts will be our summer in pictures mostly, but I will try to throw in some details along the way. Thank you for visiting and not giving up on me, lol!
