It is that time of year again! Baseball has to be one of my favorite activities for the boys to be involved in because I absolutely LOVED playing softball growing up, and to this day I jump at every chance to play again. I have never been a very good spectator when it comes to watching the boys play. I am on my feet hanging on to every play and trying my best to only bark out the MOST necessary instructions. I just can't help myself. After "sitting on the sidelines" through Clayton's 1st year of t-ball last year, I convinced myself how much fun it would be to take on the task of teaching the whole team! This is where they really start learning the foundation that they're going to build on for the rest of their little league careers - no pressure, right?! Well, here we sit a year later and I find myself exactly where I wanted to be and I am already discovering both the rewards and challenges of the job of head coach! Gathering sponsorship, designing/ordering uniforms, making phone calls/emails, and informing of practice/game schedules are just a few of the responsibilites that come with the job. Oh yeah, and did I mention planning and running a productive practice where the kids are both learning and enjoying themselves?! LOL Maybe I didn't think this through well enough, lol?? But truly, I am enjoying this opportunity to be so involved in something I enjoy so much. I am making mistakes and learning from them and slowly getting better, just like I am hoping to teach these boys to do! Make no mistake, this Momma is competitive and likes to win! I just have to learn how to balance that with learning and having fun. Wish me luck!
Clayton, Evan, Coach Mommy, and Grant
Friday night was opening ceremonies where all teams and coaches dress in uniform and are recognized on the field. The National Anthem is played, a prayer is said, and a child from each league (Weiner, Tball, Rookie, Minor, & Major) goes to the mound to throw out the ceremonial 1st pitch of the season. Clayton & Grant are in tball for 5&6 year olds and I am their coach - we are the Pirates. Evan is in weiner league for 3&4 year olds and he is playing for the Mets. Looking forward to an awesome season!

Go Coach Jess! Best wishes for a fun and successful season!
Love it!!! You look so pretty in that picture!! And what a great mommy you are to be Coach!! I bet the boys love it!!
Go, Pirates! :-) We had a pirates theme - "Searching for God's Treasure" - a couple of years ago at camp when Laura Beth was dean. I have some cute pirate stamps if you ever need to borrow them.
Good luck to you as you coach this team! I have found through 30 years of teaching that I never fail to learn from my students. Children are so much fun to work with and teach, especially at a young age when they believe in themselves and think they can do anything!
